Angela Evans
(She, Her/s)
Angela Evans is a biracial (Korean and white) therapist and Chicago resident of five years, originally from a small town in Ohio. Growing up, Angela witnessed how systemic injustice, intergenerational trauma, and mental health challenges impacted individuals and communities in her life, sparking an early desire to engage in healing work. This connection deepened through exploring the resistance and resilience of her ancestors and understanding the intergenerational impact of trauma on her family. For Angela, healing is deeply tied to her values of social justice, community, and liberation. She is inspired by Lila Watson’s words: “If you have come to help me you are wasting your time. If you have come because your liberation is bound up with mine, then let us work together.” This perspective shapes her approach to creating culturally sensitive, liberatory spaces where clients can heal and grow.
Angela earned her Master of Social Work from the University of Chicago’s Crown Family School of Social Work, Policy, and Practice in 2024 and has since become a Licensed Social Worker. While she has primarily worked in K-12 schools and families on Chicago’s West Side, Angela has also provided therapy in community clinics and telehealth settings. She values collaboration and empowerment in her work, which she believes requires an anti-adultist, harm reduction, trauma-informed and anti-oppressive approach. Her experiences thus far include addressing community violence, trauma, stress, depression/anxiety, and helping others make sense of their emotional and behavioral challenges. She is committed to meeting clients and families where they are and supporting them on their unique journeys toward authentic healing, connection, and growth.
